Text Box: Acoustic Accents is Alaska’s radio showcase for great music with an acoustic “accent”. Each week we feature some of the finest singer-songwriters and musicians on the planet. In addition to great tunes, our regular feature “Words and Music” provides in-depth interviews and songs from many of the performers that are heard on the show. Produced at Spin Monkey Productions in the beautiful Upper Tanana Valley of Alaska, Acoustic Accents is broadcast in communities throughout the “Last Frontier”.

Here on our web site you’ll find news of upcoming guests, archived playlists, links to artists, record companies, and other useful sites -plus a listing of when and where to find Acoustic Accents on your radio dial!

Text Box: A word from Producer and Host Bud Johnson

I am constantly amazed at the number of talented musicians and songwriters who go largely unnoticed by the listening public. The vast majority of these artists rarely “fit” the narrowly focused formats of commercial radio. Each week it is my pleasure to introduce a few of these exceptional performers to the many Alaskans who regularly tune in to public radio.

Thanks for listening,

Bud Johnson

APRIL - We have some great “Words & Music” segments on tap for April.  First, we’ll visit with Pieta BrownCompared by many to Lucinda Williams, Pieta talks about her not-so-direct path to performing and then plays a few songs from her recent release “Shimmer” produced by the legendary Don Was.  She’ll also talk about her new record “One & All” that’s due out April 6 and we’ll here a  new song from that as well.

Later in the month we’ll visit with a great duo originally from Montana called Storyhill.  Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson will tell us how they got together as high school friends and developed the compelling and intricate harmonies that have become their trademark. They’ll also play a few songs from their new record “Shade of the Trees” also due to be released in April.

Plus Patty Larkin drops by to talk about her new 2-CD  set, “25”.  To celebrate 25 years of making music she reworked 25 of her favorite love songs and invited 25 amazing artists to sing duets with her. You won’t believe who’s on this record!  Tune in to find out the week of 22 March.
